The article examines the EU Pilot system, which is the main informal procedure for correcting breaches of EU legislation by Member States. After tracing the history of the mechanism, it addresses its functions, the procedural profiles and the subjects involved, as well as the role of citizens and the rules on access to documents.
In conclusion, some proposals for amendments are presented.
